Is there any evidence whatsoever that dietary L-Lysine is helpful against atherosclerosis? Yes, but

It was not until 2014, until a group in Japan studied a kidney disease related calcification disorder of the arteries.  It wouldn't be scientific to conflate this discovery to any other etiologies or use this for a cross claim where there was no evidence, although it recommends that L-Lysine be studied in atherosclerosis arrived through various pathologies.  A novel MOA, not considered before is the suppression of iPTH.  Very profound.  Importantly, they do not claim it reverts pre-existing calcification, and that this is an open question.

The General Electric Lysine-Sepharose column for Lipoprotein(a) purification relies on the lysine binding sites (LBS) of apo(a) to capture it before eluting it with stronger affinity lysine analogs.  The study was never done in rodents to see if lysine could dislodge Lp(a) deposits in atherosclerotic plaque.  There certainly was ample time and resources available to do so and it remains an open question.

Linus Pauling's GHK (Glycyl-Histidine-Lysine) work

It's not over until it's all done!  There was a major body of work left unfinished which holds pharmaceutical promise to this day and onward.

The Effect of the Human Peptide GHK on Gene Expression Relevant to Nervous System Function and Cognitive Decline.

Quite the noodle baker this evening.  Having scoured the literature for literally 10 years regarding Pauling's pivotal ascorbate (uh-skorbate or uhsorbate, tomaytoe, tomahto, ascent, abscond, whatever) work, I somehow developed a blind spot for GHK-copper2+ work.  It is incredibly ripe for development.

The Warburg Effect

The Warburg Effect, widely recognized by worldwide oncology as the way that human tumors generate their sustenance, is tied into the activation of HIF1-a and vice versa.

It is somewhat of a chicken or egg question of whether anoxia forced aerobic glycolysis or whether carcinogenesis turned on aerobic/anaerobic glycolysis.

This much is true - that HIF-1a is turned on by this process, in effect making cancerous cells immune to the normal genetic programs that destroy mutated and tumorigenic cells.

Vitamin C at physiological levels in fact disables HIF-1a profoundly, thereby inhibiting carcinogenesis before the fact or after the fact.

Reduced Ascorbic Acid is the key to unlocking the nexus between Von Hippel-Lindau Factor (VHF), HIF (hypoxia induced factor), apoptosis, and the cancer disease.
